Cricket Betting at jay9 — choose the best markets for T20, ODI and BPL
Cricket is Bangladesh's most passionate sport. jay9 is always ready with betting opportunities across every format — from BPL to the T20 World Cup. Here you will find a wide range of markets including Match Winner, Toss and Top Batsman, straightforward odds, and full live betting support.
Cricket's three formats and Bangladesh's favourite leagues
Before getting into cricket betting, it is important to understand the formats, as the type of markets available differs for each one.
T20 — the fastest format and the most popular in Bangladesh. Only 20 overs per innings, so scores move quickly. BPL and IPL are played in this format. If a team scores rapidly in the final few overs, odds can shift in an instant.
ODI — a 50-over match. Mid-innings partnerships and run rates play a significant role in the betting markets. The ICC Cricket World Cup is played in this format.
Test — a five-day match where a draw is possible. With three possible outcomes (Team A wins / Team B wins / Draw), the market structure is different from ODI and T20. In Test betting, pitch conditions and weather influence the markets.
BPL and the Bangladesh Tigers' international matches are the most beloved among Bangladeshi fans. Alongside these, IPL and the T20 World Cup also keep interest alive throughout the year.
Football and other sports — what is the difference
Besides cricket, jay9 also offers betting on football and a few other sports. Football matches last only 90 minutes, so markets settle quickly. With three possible outcomes — draw, home win, or away win — the odds work differently from cricket. In cricket, odds shift instantly after a wicket or the end of a powerplay; in football, a goal does the same. Treating betting as a form of entertainment makes any sport enjoyable — but understanding the rules of each format well before placing a bet makes for a better experience.
Popular markets in cricket — how each one works
Understanding the types of bets makes it easier to make decisions. Below are seven common markets, each with a simple example.
| Market Name | What you are betting on | Example (in plain terms) |
|---|---|---|
|
Match Winner
Easiest
|
Picking which team will win the match before it starts. | In a T20 match, you place a bet on either Team A or Team B — whichever you think will win. |
|
Toss
Standalone result
|
Which team will win the toss. | The toss outcome is unrelated to the rest of the match, so it is a completely separate market. |
|
Top Batsman
Player market
|
Which player will score the most runs for their team in an innings. | You pick which of Team A's batsmen will score the highest in that innings. |
|
Total Runs (Over/Under)
Runs market
|
Whether the combined total runs scored by both teams will be above or below a set number. | If the line is set at 160 runs, you choose whether the total will be over 160 or under 160. |
|
First Wicket
In-Play
|
In which over or at what run total the first wicket of the innings will fall. | Whether the first wicket falls during the powerplay — this type of market is most popular in live matches. |
|
Multi Bet
Multiple markets
|
Combining two or more selections from different events on the same bet slip. | If you pick three teams to win in three separate matches, all must be correct for the combined odds to multiply — if one is wrong, the entire bet is lost. See the odds section below for more details. |
|
Handicap
Special market
|
A virtual run advantage is given to the weaker team to level the market. | If Team A is given a 20-run handicap, Team B must win by 21 or more runs than the actual score to win the bet. |
Three odds formats — decimal, fractional and American
The odds for a single selection in the same match can be expressed in three different ways. Below are two worked examples to explain the difference.
All three represent the same selection in different formats. If Team A wins, a ৳200 stake returns a total of ৳450 (৳250 profit + ৳200 stake). If Team A loses, the ৳200 is lost.
American minus odds show how much stake is needed to earn ৳100 in profit. With a ৳200 stake, if Team B wins, the total return is ৳360 (৳160 profit).
Decimal odds are the simplest — multiply your stake by the odds to get your total return. On jay9, you can view odds in your preferred format.
Combined odds: 1.40 × 1.50 × 1.60 = 3.36. With a ৳100 stake, if all three selections are correct, the return is ৳336. If even one is wrong, the entire ৳100 is lost.
Odds shift when a wicket falls — live in-play betting
Once a match has started and events keep changing one after another, you can still place bets on jay9. This is called live in-play betting. Odds are updated with every ball and every over.
Quick wickets in the powerplay
If two or three wickets fall in the first 6 overs, the odds for the batting team to win increase — meaning a bet on them offers more potential return, but also carries more risk.
Partnership in the middle overs
As a long partnership builds, the fielding team's odds gradually decrease. New markets open during this time — such as at what run total the next wicket will fall.
Target in the final overs
If 50+ runs are needed in the last five overs, the batting team's odds to win will be high. However, a single six can change the situation.
Duckworth-Lewis situation
If rain interrupts a match, a revised target comes into effect. Live markets may temporarily pause at that point — this is normal.
A few practical points before you start betting
Betting is a form of entertainment — not a way to earn a living. Following a few simple rules helps keep the experience positive. Responsible gambling guidelines are available on a separate page.
Set a budget in advance
Decide how much money you will put into betting each month or week before you start. Avoid going beyond that limit.
Get to know one format well
Start by understanding one market in T20 or ODI properly before moving on to others. Jumping into too many markets at once leads to confusion.
Approach live betting with patience
Live odds change fast. Take time to read the situation before making a decision rather than rushing.
Do not chase losses
Placing bigger bets to recover a loss increases your risk. Treat each bet as a separate event.
Read the terms and conditions
Before using a bonus or special offer, it is worth checking the Terms and Conditions first.
Keep your multi bets small
Multi bets may offer bigger odds, but all selections must be correct. Adding more than two or three selections is generally difficult to get right.

Betting Exchange — How BACK and LAY Work
In a regular sportsbook, you always bet against the bookmaker. In a betting exchange, you bet directly against other bettors.
If Team A wins, profit is ৳1,500 (before commission); if they don't win, ৳1,000 is lost.
If Team A doesn't win, profit is ৳1,000 (before commission); if they win, liability is ৳1,500 (৳1,000 × 1.50).
If the exchange market feels a bit complex, start with a simple match winner market first. Once you are comfortable with how odds work, you can try the exchange.
